Cynthia Suter - Associate Circuit Judge

Cynthia A. Suter was born December 17th, 1947 in Fort Madison, Iowa to George and Bernadine Suter, the oldest of four children. Cynthia Suter began school in Higginsville, and moved to Columbia in first grade. She moved to Moberly with her family, graduated from Moberly High School in 1965 and then worked her way through college and law school. She Graduated from Moberly Junior College in 1967, Northeast Missouri State in 1969, and the University of Missouri Kansas City in 1971 earning a Juris Doctorate. Cynthia practiced law in Kansas City for the Popham Law Firm and the Environmental Protection Agency. She then moved back to Moberly and became an Associate with Channing Blaeuer in 1973. She has practiced law in Moberly and Randolph County ever since.

On April 22, 1983 Cynthia married William Phillip “Phil” Crayne from the State of Kansas. They had four daughters and she remained married to him until his tragic death, November 27, 1999. Cynthia is currently grandmother to ten grandchildren living in the states of Kansas and Georgia.

Cynthia is extremely active in the community as well as the state. She serves on the Discipline Committee for the Missouri State Board of Nursing and has judged at MOOT Court and other law school related events at the University of Missouri. In addition to her full time law practice in Randolph County, Cindy serves as President of the Missouri Lawyers Trust Fund Foundation and on its Board of Directors. She is past president of the Randolph County Bar Association, and a Board Member of Mid-Missouri Legal Services. She is past President and current Board Member of the Community Day Care Learning Center of Moberly and is a former Board Member of Safe Passage, a shelter for battered women. She is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Moberly and a life-long Democrat.

Cynthia Suter was appointed by the Supreme Court to be a member of the Intervention Committee to help impaired attorneys. She was also appointed by the Governor to be a public member of the State Board of Nursing to protect the public.

She has a tremendous amount of experience trying criminal cases, felonies, civil actions, divorce cases juvenile cases, adoptions, and misdemeanors. She has been a Special Prosecutor, Presiding Officer for the Advisory Committee of the State Supreme Court, serves on the Discipline Committee for the Missouri State Board of Nursing, is President of the Missouri Lawyers Trust Fund Foundation, is on the Missouri Lawyers Assistance Committee, and was appointed by the Supreme Court to serve on its Intervention Committee.
