Susan Carter - Presiding Commissioner

Susan Carter grew up in Moberly.  The daughter of former Moberly Mayor Charles and Mary Carter, she graduated from Moberly HIgh School in 1971, and attended Avila College, then the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she received a BA in Radio-TV-Film and was a recepeint of the Chancellor's Award.

Carter began a career in broadcasting at KCMO, now KCTV, in Kansas City, joining CBS News in the Dallas Bureau as an editor in 1977.  Later assignments included CBS News-Washington and CBS News-New York, where she was a founding member of the news magazine "48 Hours', supervising editor of "Eye to Eye with Connie Chung" and an editor with "60 Minutes".  Her work has been recognized with a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award, an Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia University Award and an Emmy citation for coverage of 9/11.

She and her husband returned to Moberly in 2001.  She serves as a board member of the MACC Foundation, the Randolph County Historical Society and is a member of Chamber of Commerce, League of Women Voters, St. Pius X, the YMCA and the Moberly High School Alumni Association.
